COURSE DESCRIPTION
T
his course is designed to provide students an in depth experience in drawing. Each student should have an advanced level of proficiency in drawing from life as well as from reference and idea.

ACTIVITIES

A series of drawings will be developed with input from the instructor. The student will explore in drawing an area or concept that interests them, which will vary according to the needs of the individual student. Students may use a variety of methods of drawing and a variety of media. Critique will be set up and determined by the student and the instructor. The series number, media and size will be determined at the beginning of the course and adhered to until their completion. Final series will be appropriately mounted and hung for critique at the end of the semester, and will be accompanied by an artist’s statement relating to the work.

You will also be required to write an artist’s statement relevant to the work .

COURSE REQUIREMENTS & EVALUATION PROCEDURES
1. Attend class per university guidelines:
Obviously this type class will vary in attendance required, but remember it is the student’s responsibility to schedule regular critique and discussion time at the convenience of the instructor.


2. Produce all work as agreed.


3. Drawings will be evaluated through critique. You should pay particular attention to process. Any final drawings should exhibit craftsmanship in execution and presentation. Work habits and consistency/preparedness count! You will also be judged on your ability to take risks and let go of preconceptions.


4. Once determined the schedule should be adhered to with professional attention.


5. A sketchbook should be maintained containing preliminary drawings and compositional sketches, as well as notes about process, ideas, influences, and drawings from life related or not related to the series.
